City manager to look at tobacco resolution

Dubuquers will have to wait a little longer to see if their city will support a resolution for local control over tobacco-free environments.

On Monday night, the Dubuque City Council referred the Tobacco Free Coalition's request to support a local control resolution to City Manager Mike Van Milligen. He will review the request and make a suggestion to the Council at a future meeting.

Council member Joyce Connors knew the issue of city control of smoking would materialize in her city. While at the National League of Cities last year, she attended a session about city control over smoking in public places.
