This bill amends the current state law prohibits smoking in all places of employment, including restaurants and bars, and restores local control. Public Hearing and Work Session held on March 16. The bill was amended to add an exemption for smoke shops, which must make 75% of sales from tobacco and be freestanding, which can serve alcohol between 3 and 8 pm. The bill also amends the reasonable distance provision from 25’ to 10’ and further specifies no smoking in hospitals. The bill was amended in the Finance & Revenue committee to exempt cigar bars and race tracks. The bill was amended in the House to remove the exemptions for race tracks and to remove the provision that allowed smoke shops to serve alcohol.

EXEMPTIONS: Smoking is allowed in 25% of hotel/motel rooms, private homes except when used for child/adult care, for ceremonial purposes, smoke shops, and cigar bars.
