Act TODAY for Smokefree Casinos in Colorado!

Are you enjoying all the smokefree air in Colorado since the Colorado Smokefree Air Act passed last year, making our workplaces, restaurants and bars 100% smokefree?

Well, the law had a loophole... it left out casino workers.

NOW is our chance to make casinos 100% smokefree for good!

A "Smokefree Casinos" bill, House Bill 1269, is now in the Senate. Unfortunately, a "poison pill" amendment was added that may ruin the whole bill. (The amendment would make casinos smokefree ONLY IF the airport and cigar bar exemptions were also removed. That won't happen this session.) Senator Tapia is going to try to remove that nasty amendment. Then, the bill will be strong again and we will need our Senators to vote YES.

Okay, I get it! Now what can I do about it?

1) Please call your state Senator today! Go to Vote Smart to find your Senator and their phone number.

2) Ask them to "Support House Bill 1269 and make all casinos in Colorado totally smokefree". You will likely just be leaving a message, which is just fine. Every message will be counted!

MORE TALKING POINTS:

• Please allow Senator Tapia to offer a third reading amendment on HB 1269, and then to vote YES on HB 1269 to protect casino workers from exposure to secondhand smoke in the workplace, with NO phase-in.
