Governor signs smoking ban

Governor Richardson has signed a measure to ban smoking statewide in most workplaces and businesses.

Richardson, who smokes cigars, signed the bill today.

If prohibits smoking in bars, restaurants, stores, offices and other indoor workplaces.

The measure allows smoking in designated outside smoking areas near buildings -- as long as they're away from doorways and windows

The bill allows smoking in private homes, retail tobacco stores, cigar bars, casinos, bingo parlors and private clubs and fraternal organizations.
