Legislative Summary
SB24 - (enforcement for sales to minors; e-cigarette use) - An act relating to electronic cigarettes - Carry over, but then amended to address Public Employees - Pension Reform Act
This bill would amend enforcement provisions of the e-cigarette sales to minors bill, and is a concern because it defines e-cigarettes as being separate from tobacco products. On April 6, the Health Committee amended the bill to also prohibit the use of e-cigarettes in the same places where smoking is prohibited, also defining e-cigarettes as not being a tobacco product. The bill was further amended to raise the age of sale for tobacco products and e-cigarettes from 18 to 21. Bill carried over to 2016, but stripped and amended on 1/1/2015 to address the California Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act.
